Du tror att du är center of the universe, Hästen tror att den är center of the universe. Vem har rätt? Eller har båda rätt? Jag tror att båda har rätt och för att skapa en bra relation måste man dela på uppmärksamheten. Precis som i vilken relation som helst! Du kan inte gå runt och bestämma och tro och tycka att du är bäst. Vem kommer vilja vara med dig då? Ingen enligt mig! Var ödmjuk, lyssna på andra, dela på att vara i centrum med alla omkring dig! Du kommer både bli en bättre person och fler kommer lyssna och vilja vara omkring dig!

Det gäller i allt även när du är med din häst! En annan sak att tänka på. Hästen är ALLTID korrekt, är du? Alla hästar kan i naturen gör allt, frågan är om du kan vara så följsam och uppmuntrande att du kan få hästen att göra det?!

"Point of rotation is a fundamental principle in dressage. In working with the horse there are four possible points of rotation; We rotate around the horse, the horse rotates around us, we both rotate around an mutually agreed point or we rotate around a mutually disagreed upon point.

This idea of rotation is not just physical but also psychological. This point of rotation can be view as fixed or movable in either realm. It also may be internal or external or both for every form contains its own center and can shift relative to a fixed external point.

The trick, simply stated, is to avoid mutual disagreement about the point of rotation. Conflict over the point of rotation is exhausting and self destructive. 

Given a choice, horses unlike humans will not choose conflict but will choose to leave any relationship which supports continuous conflict. When they cannot flee they will either fight, express nervousness and stress or withdraw internally. The first kind of horse is dangerous and aggressive, the second is termed hot and the third is termed dull.

The point of the proper use of the aids is to help the horse always know where the center is. Good dressage is the use of the aids to move that center from in the horse, in the rider or an agreed upon location externally. 

When a horse know the center, the horse is always calm if it has sufficient training to keep focus. The ability to focus of the mind is the first requirement for communication for either the horse or rider. Before a language can be developed one must pay attention.

Paying attention is the first thing taught and trained and it must be done in complete calm. The use of fear or pain to achieve attention always results in mental instability.

Point of rotation is giving basic attention an object. Be kind, be gentle, be clear. There are the signs of the educated horse person." - criag
